Spotting Josh, he began to make his way over to the older male. However, before he reached him, he was accosted by someone he assumed worked at the arcade and was told he had to hand over his pokeballs, something about some new security measure. Not the type to really take someone he didn’t really know at face value, his gaze flickered briefly to where he could see his friend. Seeing as the older male was missing his own Pokémon, he reluctantly handed his pokeballs over, but he still shot the worker a look filled with suspicion before making his way over to Josh.

"Yeah, I admit I wasn’t expecting security to be so tight. Not having my Pokémon on hand is strange to say the least,” he commented, resisting the urge to look in the direction he figured their Pokémon were being kept. Just being without his Pokémon was giving him abduction vibes; not that they had been abducted; it was just similar in regard to the factto the fact that he had been without his Pokémon for most of that ordeal.

Mentally shaking himself, he turned his attention back to the older male. “I’ve been well enough; I mean, it sucks that I still have to do light duties when it comes to ranger work,” he huffed. Seriously, if he were more of the Wildcard type, he would just ditch any regulations he had covering his return to duties. However, he had just enough common sense to know not too much that would set back his training.

“How about you? I haven’t seen you since you know..." he trailed off before continuing. “My grandparents stuck me in the hospital after that mess and made sure our superiors knew I had gotten injured pretty badly.”[break] Josh Devlin

“I suppose so,” he agreed with a sigh. It wasn’t like his Pokémon were exactly small either. All of his Pokémon were on the larger side. Still, that didn’t make him any less on edge. He hadn’t really been without a Pokémon within reach; at six, he was ten, and now all SIX of the Pokémon he had carried on him weren’t where he could reach them. It wasn’t like he was expecting trouble, but he was in a word paranoid.

“I honestly didn’t read much up on it. I kept myself pretty busy or tried to. It was kind of hard since I was kind of limited on what I could do with my ranger duties,” he admitted with a small shrug. He had always liked staying on the busy side; the less he had time to think, the better.

Yeah, that was right; Josh had damaged his arm pretty badly. "Well, that’s not too bad; you were able to recover,” he pointed out before continuing. “As for me, they’re not entirely sure how long my recovery time will take. It’s actually the lashes I received that are taking the longest. The doctor thinks the material from the shirt sometimes rubs up against it, irritating it and causing the healing to be slowed. I tend to wear looser clothing as I'm so unsure how that could be.”

He had told the doctor as much, but he wasn’t sure either. The only other thing he could think of is that the few times he had accidentally fallen asleep, he had done something. He did tend to have nightmares every time he slept, not that he would tell anyone as much. Well, at least not someone he didn’t really know.

Of course he still needed therapy for his arm as well. According to the doctor, that wasn’t the first time the arm had healed wrong, so it was harder to come back from something like that. It was still hard to grip stuff with his left hand at times because that arm was still pretty stiff, but it wasn’t too bad; it didn’t hurt, so that was something.

“Do you have busier times at your gym than in other parts of the year?” he inquired curiously. Hadn’t he said something about not having many challengers at some point? If that was the case, then he was glad to do his gym was doing better. “I’m glad to be here with you as well; probably wouldn’t have come otherwise,” he admitted.

Following Josh over to what he assumed was the dancing game, he looked it over. The controls kind of reminded him of a piano. His friend's voice pulled his attention away from studying the machine, and he glanced at the older ranger.

It seemed that they were still on the search then. “What does the game even look like?” he inquired, figuring he could help if he knew what to look for.[break] Josh Devlin

At the mention of people dying, his expression darkened, his eyes narrowing a fraction. “I seriously don’t see what Team Rocket is hoping to accomplish with all this carnage. I’m well aware it’s world dominance or some such nonsense, but what's the point of that if they kill everyone to do that? That’s why we can’t let Team Rocket win because it definitely wouldn’t be good for everyone,” he huffed, rolling his eyes. Seriously, did the people in Team Rocket actually think things through? Or was it filled with a bunch of bumbling idiots?

The more he discovered about Team Rocket, the less he was impressed by them, and the more he wanted to put an end to their deeds. He didn’t want people to continue dying just because a group of people thought it would be okay to try and enforce their will upon others. And while he tried to steer clear of confrontation when he could, he definitely felt he wouldn’t hesitate to put them in their place if he really had to.

Pushing down his annoyance at Team Rocket and the things they had done, he moved the topic of conversation on to something else. At the question, he let out a tired sigh but addressed the question. “That’s not really the problem. It’s more about where they were placed. I have scars cutting through other scars. Old scars. Scars that are bad,” he said, his expression unreadable.

“This isn’t really the place to get into all of that, though,” he said as if suddenly aware of anyone who could be close enough to hear their conversation. He supposed he really wanted to know more; he would tell him later; he had already come this far after all. However, if he really wanted to know more, it would have to be in a more private setting.

Allowing the conversation to move on, he listened to what the older male had to say. "Yes, I heard about Kyurem; kind of surprised a pokemon could disrupt the weather pattern that much though. I mean, wasn't it always fairly hot here? Or is it simply the fact I’m from Galar that I feel that way?”

Seriously, the weather here had been a shock to his system. "Anyway, what made you decide to get into the whole gym leader stuff in the first place? I can’t say I’ve ever been interested in that kind of lifestyle myself,” he commented, thinking on how he still struggled with the idea of battling. Thanks a lot, father.

Mentally shaking himself, he let his eyes scan their surroundings, deciding he might as well make himself useful. Receiving no response, his gaze flickered briefly to the older male. Resisting the urge to sigh when he saw him distracted, he repeated the question, gaining the gym leaders attention.

As he went on to explain what they were looking for, he let his gaze wander. So far, he saw nothing of what he was saying. Then again, with the amount of people, it was kind of hard to see anything. He debated going a bit away to see if he could spot what he was talking about but didn’t really feel like losing him in the crowd.

Before he could think too much on it, Josh spotted what they had come for, and he followed after the older male. Studying the people playing, he took note of their movements. “Sounds like they just want competition between people,” he commented, his gaze still trained on people currently playing.[break] Josh Devlin
